Assisted Purchase Scheme
The Assisted Purchase Scheme is a government run initiative that allows pupils who receive instrumental lessons at a state run school or are involved in a County Music Service activity to buy equipment at the retail price less VAT (at 17.5%).
Instruments, bows and cases can be sold using this scheme (excludes commission sale items).
What you need to do:
- Contact your child's school/music authority either directly or through the instrumental teacher and check that they are happy to participate in the scheme (some will then issue an application form to bring to the shop).
- Visit the Shop and take the required items on approval ensuring that we know your child's name, school or college and class and whether payment is to be made by the school or directly from the County Music Service.
- Send the approval note and/or any official form, along with your payment (less the VAT) to the school/college/County Music Service.
- They will issue us an order number from which we will invoice the school or Music Service directly for the full amount.
We would appreciate prompt payment to the School/College/Music Service as the whole process usually takes about 4-6 weeks to complete. However, if there is a delay in the Shop receiving payment, we may contact you to confirm that payment has been made.
Any items purchased through the scheme can be part exchanged. Please retain the county paperwork as proof of purchase.
Not all County Services implement the scheme in the same way. For example, Wiltshire and South Gloucester require that once chosen, the teacher/school need to send us a purchase order before the instrument is sent directly to the teacher to be checked rather than being taken out from the shop, however for more expensive instruments it is acceptable for items to be taken on approval as above. Please discuss this with your school or local authority music service in advance of visiting the shop to help avoid delays or confusion.
Please contact the shop for further details. .
