Our Hire Scheme
Please note that we have a limited number of hire cellos and double basses. Please contact us for availability.
Our Hire Scheme is a hassle free alternative for those who do not wish to purchase an instrument, but would prefer to hire on an ongoing basis. The hire period will be for a minimum of 2 months, and is then extendable on a monthly basis until you decide to terminate the hire. From this point onwards if you decide to purchase an instrument, you will receive 2 months hire (excluding the insurance) off the price of a new instrument. This is not a 'hire purchase' scheme.
Our hire instruments are from a bank of good quality rental stock, and will be supplied with an appropriate bow, rosin and case. They will not be available for sale. The instrument will remain the property of The Bristol Violin shop. BVS will replace broken strings and complete any necessary maintenance to the hired items. If you need to change the size of the instrument, we will do this any time at no extra cost.
When hiring, you will need to bring:

Payment for the first 2 months fees (inclusive of insurance) will be required at the time of hire. We do not require a deposit. You will need to bring your bank details and branch address with you and complete a standing order form for ongoing hire fees. Payments will be taken from your account on an agreed date each month. When the instrument is no longer required, the customer is responsible for cancelling the standing order, but only once the instrument has been returned to the shop. If you decide to cancel hire part way through a month, we are not obliged to refund any payments made in advance.
Instruments will be hired out with their existing strings. Should you require new or improved strings, they can be purchased separately. A shoulder rest will not be provided with the outfit. We would highly recommend that you find a teacher before taking an instrument out on hire.
